International Workers Day Community Outreach Program

On International Workers Day also known as May day which is held annually on the 1st of May, Professor Hlengiwe Mkhize in her capacity as PWMSA National Convenor and Deputy Minister in the Department of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities, visited M.S. Care (Mission Society Care Village) led by Bishop Dr Thabile Mnisi-Msibi in Orange Farm, Johannesburg on a community outreach program.

The National Convenor was taken on a tour at the centre by Bishop Dr Mnisi-Msibi, who explained the great work done by the centre for the Orange Farm community. The National Convenor handed over food parcels and hygiene products such as bath soap, sanitary towels, disposable nappies and face masks to encourage hygiene and eradicate poverty during the difficult times of COVID 19.

The event was supported by Mr Mustafa Erogulo from the Turkish society, PWMSA National Office staff Lethu Ndlovu and Philile Bongwe, an official from the Deputy Minister’s office Lebogang Mothiba and was attended by women, elderly people, children, youth and persons with disabilities. All COVID 19 protocols were adhered by.

Briefly, M.S. Care (Mission Society Care Village) is a site that support affiliated programs in 8 of the 9 country’s province such as Gauteng, Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, Western Cape, North West and Free State.

The main groups served by M.S Care are:People living with HIV/Aids, unemployed people, orphans, disabled people, abused people, elderly people, children and youth.

Some of the services offered by M. S. Care includes: care for abused children and women, primary healthcare, pre and post-traumatic stress counseling, HIV /AIDS education, home and community visits(palliative care), projects development for poverty alleviation, accredited training in home – base careers, peer counseling and providing HIV/AIDS education etc.

Spiritual services offered includes radio ministry, prison ministry and prayer team.
